Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Arkansas razorback Anna Hopkin, like many other NCAA athletes, had her collegiate season cut short before she had a full chance to see what she was capable of. After NCAA's were cancelled, Hopkin quickly returned to her home in the United Kingdom where she was able to get in a long course time trial before all pools were shut down, posting a 53.3 100 free, just shy of her best. Since her return to Europe, she's been doing what she can with her new training group under the tutelage of Mel Mashall (known for coaching Adam Peaty).

We sat down with Tate Jackson, former longhorn sprinting ace and member of the Cali Condors during the inaugural ISL season. Tate is one of my favorite people to see on a pool deck. He will always talk to you and he seems to always be in a good mood (at least when he's talking to you). SwimSwam Podcast: Helen Yee on What ISL Could Take From UFC's Fight Island
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
We talked through Helen's swimming years, and how she eventually transitioned to sports reporting, specifically the UFC. Yee's most recent reporting stint was spent on Fight Island, UFC's response to COVID-19 where they had a remote location to host competition on an Island in Abu Dhabi. It sounds very similar to what the ISL has proposed for their shortened 2020-21 season, and the takeaways from UFC's version could be valuable, as they had a lot of success with few to no COVID infections while on the island.
