SwimSwam Podcast: Ous Mellouli on Winning 15 Gold Medals, $150K at 1 Meet
Monday Aug 03, 2020
Monday Aug 03, 2020
We dove deep into a piece of trivia you may not know about: Mellouli's performance at the inaugural Pan Arab Games in 2011. Since they were offering cash prizes to all medalists and a bonus to the athlete with the most medals, Mellouli went all in and entered every nearly every race. He won 15 of those races, and a lot of these weren't gimmies either. He was winning 50's and 100's of stroke, and for someone who was about to go on to win the 10k at the Olympics, that's pretty darn impressive.

Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Having to transfer schools because the swim team got cut is emotional and difficult; Ben Gingher is doing it for the second time in his NCAA career.
Gingher started his collegiate career at Eastern Michigan, initially making a verbal commitment in November 2016. After one full season at EMU, the program got cut, so he transferred to East Carolina, where he swam for two seasons until this past May when the school announced they were cutting the men’s and women’s teams. Now, Gingher is heading to Youngstown State in Ohio with one final year of eligibility left.

Friday Jul 31, 2020
Friday Jul 31, 2020
National Teamer Emily Escobedo has been one of the few fortunate ones to still (as of the time of this interview) have access to a pool - an infinity pool. While she admits it isn't ideal, she is grateful she has a place to swim and at least maintain her feel for the water. Outside of swimming, she's been indoors as much as possible, and trying her hand at cooking more with the free time - or as she refers to it, preparing.
